My cousin Gretel invited us over for dinner one night as little play date for our kids. For several years now, and in fact as far back as I can remember any how college football has used the BCS system. Almost every year since I have followed the sport the end of the season comes and someone has a problem with how it turns out, the rankings that is. The most obvious solution to the problem would be to have a playoff. But, how many teams would be allowed in the playoffs? One of the good things about having a playoff is it solves the problem of weaker and stronger conferences. What do I mean by that? Well if you are not in a BCS conference with the current setup even if you have an undefeated record at the end of the year you will most likely not play in the championship game come bowl season. You may very well get a BCS game but not the championship. If we were to take the top 8 or 10 or 16 teams and have a playoff it could fix this. You don’t have to per say let those non BCS conference teams play in the championship game. It solves itself. In a playoff system it is obviously as simple as winning and losing. The best teams will play. There will be no room for complaints. But this is obviously just my opinion. This has been a discussion for years. So because it has gone on for so long I don’t know that it will ever change, but it does not mean that it should not.
